We need each other 👯‍♂️

Typing a paper while attending Cypress Community College in California. (1984)

I can’t write your story without you,

and apparently, you can’t write it without me.🤷‍♀️

I recently came across a statistic that states about 80% of Americans say they have a book in them. Of that 80%, about 15% actually start writing one, and of those that start, only about 3% ever finish what was started.

A blank page is intimidating, you don’t need to go it alone.

I credit my Fine Arts degree with my ability to start and finish creative projects that don’t necessarily have a clear path to completion upfront.

While earning my degree, every class came with the same assignment: learn how to use an unfamiliar tool or process and create something to demonstrate mastery of it within the span of a semester. I did this for years and years!

From learning how to handle a large format camera, to developing color prints in complete darkness, to writing so very many college papers. (see above)

Then I began my free-lance and teaching career and it was all new, unfamiliar, and intimidating once again.

Thankfully, when I began documenting life stories in 2010, I was already aware of the familiar trolls that always arrive with new and creative endeavors.

Living under the bridge of a bold creative project are the trolls of self-doubt, inexperience, fear, and procrastination. I have already wrestled with these trolls so you don’t have to (you’re welcome!). I’ve been creating family films and printed memoirs for families long enough to know the successful path across the troll bridge to the completion of your memoir.

But here's the thing: even though I have all this experience in starting and finishing creative projects, I still can’t do it without you.

You have the story to tell, and I know how to record your story and then turn your words into a personalized printed memoir.

We need each other, and that’s a good thing. I wouldn’t want it any other way!

P.S. I still write with a kitty close by 🐱

Do you (or someone you know) have a memoir project that needs a creative partner? Working together is not only enjoyable, it’s sure to get done. Let’s get started.

Our stories matter,

Angela
